Genome Atlantic wants to make sure that all Atlantic Canadians understand the power of genomics. We provide educational tools for the public and for schools to learn about this fascinating area of science.

Our website contains helpful articles, activities, classroom presentations, videos and other curriculum materials for grades 9-12. Much of the material was developed and sourced by Genome British Columbia, and we are very grateful for the use of it.

Genomics Suitcase

Another tool is the Genomics Suitcase, a resource-packed toolkit that contains a range of genomics teaching materials. Schools and other educational groups can borrow the suitcase at no charge.

 The suitcase contains:

• six bilingual graphic panels
• portable computer with five games and one animation
• two board games
• one card-and-mirror game
• two flipbooks
• 3-D animal cell model with key
• 3-D DNA model
• video (VHS): How to Build a Human
• programme and activity sheets
• books
